After the scission of the FTSF in 1890, the Broussists turned into political socialism on the one hand, and the Allemanists changed themselves into a loosely united federation of trade unions instead of a political party on the other hand. The conflict between two groups was based not on individual hostility against the elected group or the middle class intellectuals, but on the principle whether the party had to make class corporation to win electoral struggles against conservative political parties or not. In addition. the death of Chabert and Joffrin, two representative militants who won the respect from Parisian skilled workers due to their struggling career throughout the 19th-century revolutionary experiences made this conflict unnegotiable.
When the Allemanists chose the way to be outside of parliamentary politics against the Broussists who acted not for working class members of the FTSF, but for the whole electors in the electoral district, the scission was unavoidable. The result was the official scission in the congress of Chatellerault in 1890. Since then, the Allemanists pursued "ouvrierisme" and to keep this main principle they tried to build the mechanism to put socialist intellectuals and deputies under the control of workers' trade unions. Sometimes, these efforts made some of elites left the Allemanists. Of course, it was true that the Allemanists lost political influence over Parisian workers throughout the 1890s in comparison with the 1880s. However, the Allemanists could preserve working class political independence due to these painful efforts. This was one of the traditional identities of working class movement in French history, of which Parisian skilled workers had been very proud.
