This article examines the attitude of the trade union to the employment of aliens and immigration in German history, It is characterized by ambivalence between the nationalism and the international solidarity. Whether it is the nationalism regarding the migration, or which is internationalism, the German trade union holds always on the self-interest to protect the organization member and to develop the organization. This affected considerably the politics of the migration in Germany. For example the high-praised equal treatment of foreign workers in the tariff and social right was closely connected with the will of the trade union that the foreign employees may not be used as wage pushers. The high integration of foreign employees in the trade union which come with the high number of foreign members and their high level of organization to the expression, was evenly the reaction of the trade union to the crisis with the shrinking number of members. But the crisis solution by the strong integration of foreign employees into the trade union encounters the border because of the economic structural change and the high unemployment. It proved that the foreigners adapted at changed economic surrounding field most badly. But because of the low birth number and the aging population in Germany, the necessity of the new immigration is recognized by ever more humans. But this times the highly-qualified workers asked more. From the experience, it is clear that consulting the new workers does not mean the temporary occupation, but it releases the numerous migration problems. The German trade union pleads for the world-open migration politics, because it probably recognizes that its future depends on the reaction to the challenge of the multi-cultural society.
