This Thesis is composed in the five chapters:
1. Introduction 2. Proposition of questions and Methodology 3. Head Thesis:
A. myths in the ancient Near Eastern Text
B. Mythical description of Old Testament and Theological Texts
C. Common points and difference between ancient Near Eastern and myths of Old Testament
D. Conclusion : Theophany of God in Cult and Religion: mythical kingship and Messiah Kingdom of ancient Israel
We as Korean have myths in our History. Among them have we Dangun myth. That has similar instance as like of Old Testament story. Also I have interest in Dangun myth. Especially, is Dangun myth specialized nowadays by the many scholars.
In a broad sense Dangun myth can be belonged to the ancient Near Eastern myths in the shape of Culture.
The ancient Near Eastern myths and the creation story of Old Testament emphasize on creation of Human. The former is planed out Hierarch structurally, but the latter has relation to human directly.
While the former calls son of God and daughter of God from the poly theistic sphere(=coterie), the latter calls created Being of God in the sphere of the world.
There are two classes that is ruling class and working class in the ancient Near Eastern myths. If a member of ruling class rebels against the highest ruler(God), is he ruled out his own status during heavenly Meeting. During heavenly Meeting presides the highest God conversation and debate of the gods(rulers) and he decide according to his own plan and will.
But a thing in common of both is based on the History in a world. This thought is demythologized in the sphere of Old Testament.
In spite of demythologization uses the Bible mythical narration in working of God. Instead of the mythical persons appear the general human on the stage and they help and disturb the human things. We call this phase "Theophany" in another word. The God Jahwe has blessed the human, but he gave not divine right to him(them). Because God will not consent ruling class between God and human. But the highest El of Canaanite dwells in steadily status, the God Baal goes down in the world and nature and he works functionally. But God of Old Testament accomplish two functions in oneself.
Also our ruler sovereignty of the world is only Jahwe and all of human being and worker are his subjects(=vasals) in the equality(in principle of equality).
