This study aims to design population education for resolving population problems along with the decreasing rate of fertility. The recent trend of fertility is expected to result in population shortage and unbalanced population structure. In order to overcome these problems, this study proposes new perspectives of population education.
In this study, 'population education' is defined to be processes of changing the people's attitude toward personal fertilities in order to maintain the optimal scale of population in national scale of economies. This study also suggests that the population education from the perspective of family economics should be more efficient than that of national economy.
In short, this study assumes that the total number of children in a society is determined through the people's rational decision-making processes. And, under this assumption, the research suggests that population education should be designed to correct and coordinate 'personal evaluation' on the value and the cost of the giving births to and raising children.
