This study aims to make a list of juvenile literature in Kyungnam and Busan region through the daily presses, and to grasp its characteristics and development during the colonial period(1910~1945). For this, I have thirdly surveyed and researched nursery rhymes, stories, and dramas which were published in Jungang-ilbo, Chosunjungang-ilbo, and Mail-sinbo(1931~1945). The results so far achieved are in substance as follows.
1. In Jungang-ilbo and its succeeding media Chosunjungang-ilbo, I could find out 19 pieces of nursery rhymes as a work of juvenile literary man from Kyungnam or Busan. these rhymes include 7 pieces of Dae-Woo Nam(from Hadong)'s, 3 pieces of Duk-Chul Seo(from Ulsan)'s and Jeong-Man Bae(from Masan)'s by each, and 2 pieces of Seong-Hong Lee(from Habcheon)'s. Especially Seong-Hong Lee's rhymes describe the reality of poverty connecting with our fundamental desires of food, clothing, and housing. But the others express mainly the bright anf cheerful world based on the mind of childish innocence.
2. Only five nursery stories appeared in Jungang-ilbo and Chosunjungang-ilbo as a juvenile tale of Kyungnam and Busan. These stories have only a spark of life left in the juvenile literature of Kyungnam and Busan. However I can mention specially that In-Uk Choi(from Habcheon) took to the literary world as a new young writer and his fairy tale <a tale of the bee> is composed naturally by a frame story.
3. Mail-sinbo was a pro-Japanese newspaper from 1910 to 1945, but it was the only one which had been published by Korean until 1920 and after sept. of 1941. By the way, the public often contributed his works regardless of the quality of this pro-Japanese newspaper. So we should view and examine carefully their works published in this newspaper.
The results I surveyed on this newspaper, I could select 94 pieces of nursery rhymes as a work of Kyungnam and Busan's writers. Among them, I could find out unexpectedly several works that criticize hard facts of life as like cases of Dae-Young Park(from Namhae), Seok-Beom O(from Eunyang), and Nil-Ryu Go(from Busan). Another case worthy of notice is that Dae-Woo Nam published 36 pieces of nursery rhymes writing under the pen-name of Namyangcho(南洋草) or Namwoo(南宇) or Namseowoo(南曙宇) in this newspaper. Most of his rhymes are works discovered newly. And then many works announced during the last years of the colonial period(1939~1945), such as Dae-Woo Nam's and Won-Su Lee(born in Yangsan, lived in Masan)'s, are works singing the mind of childish innosence about various condition of nature or childish life.
4. In Mail-sinbo(1931~1945), I could meet 4 pieces of nursery tales and a piece of nursery drama. A tale <sport shoes>(Undongwha, 運動靴) of In-Uk Choi, which was chosen as unwarded good work in the 1937 spring literary contest, and <a melon>(Chamoe, 참외),
<worm-hearted friends> of Dae-Woo Nam are works about friendship. A nursery drama <a fountain pen>(Mannyunpil, 萬年筆) of Jin-Up Jeong (from Kimhae) is also a work about friendship. But all the works could be falled under suspicion of sympathizing with Japannese policy.
