The JueDiTianTong(絶地天通) myth has been handed down in a verbal form as well as a literal form like 『ShangShu(尙書)』 and 『GuoYu(國語)』. The JueDiTianTong myth written in 『ShangShu』 was overlaid with a ethnic ideology. And the JueDiTianTong myth written in 『GuoYu』 was completely turned into the human history because of the background of the times, namely the reasonable rationalism and the euhemerization.
In this thesis, I look over the meaning of the JueDiTianTong myth through the two truth-programs. One is the truth-program named history, and the other, symbol. In the truth-program named history, 'JueDiTianTong' implies the division of class, a war between tribes, the reform of a primitive religion, and the exclusive possession of a religion. On the other hand, in the truth-program named symbol, the JueDiTianTong myth shows the human's desire and effort to restore the wholeness through the theme of 'Paradise[地天通]-the Paradise lost[絶地天通]-the recovery of Paradise[地天通]'. Each truth-program is worth being in that the truth-program named history shows the historical background of the JueDiTianTong myth, and the truth-program named symbol satisfies the human desire toward the wholeness.
Although I approve the two programs, I deny the attitude that the myth is nothing but part of history. Also I believe that to find out the truth which cannot be a historical reality is more important than to find out the historical reality in myth. I try to go through the meaning of the JueDiTianTong myth by putting it to interpretation, and expect another truth-program can expose the hidden implication of the JueDiTianTong myth this thesis couldn't pick up.
