The purpose of this study is to calculate objective indicators for accurate evaluation of the external spaces in a housing complex; compare and analyze the value of calculating the selected indicators by applying them to case complexes; and ultimately determine their availability, or usefulness. With regard to the methodology, this study defines indicator properties, selects proper indicators through an interview with an expert, and divides the selected indicators into basic ones and detailed ones. In addition, the study makes the selection of case complexes according to determinants and conducts the iconographic analysis of the selected case complexes in order to verify the usefulness of indicator-calculating value based on the results of indicator analysis. In conclusion, for its ultimate purpose of finding practical applications of indicators, this study compares between and analyzes the existing calculations and the improved ones and then determines the usefulness in the evaluation of external spaces in an multi-family housing site.
