The revitalization of Mok-po regional Economy depends upon the harbor development first of all. Mok-po port will play an important role in the Asian- Pacific area as well as Korea. Therefore, there should be increase of the investment on the social overhead capital including the harbor sector. It is necessary that we should attract the private capital and foreign fund to develop Mok-po port.
We should establish the future-oriented and long-term development strategies so that we would not reiterate' the trial and error' in the process of the development of Mok-po Port. Ab-hae district should be the new harbor of Mok-po against the 21th century. The Construction plan of Ab-hae port have to be focused on breeding Mokpo the economic center of the Asian-pacific area.
It is natural that the local government, the regional identity, the local university, and mordenization of information system should act an important role in regional development..
