This paper examines the moving of the capital of Baekje in detail, focusing on several issues currently discussed. First of all, the main power to move the capital to Ungjin was examined. Gongju Suchan - ri remains recently excavated shows that this area was the base for the strongest group holding power from the South of the Han River to the North of the Geum River. At that time, the most influential group, which can be matched with the main power is the Mok family in the South near the Han River. In cooperation with the Mok family, who had the strongest power in Ungjin, the royal family of Baekje wanted to stabilize the king's power, which was threatened after Goguryeo's invasion of Hanseong, by moving the capital to Ungjin.
Next, the procedures of moving the capital to Sabi were examined. It is difficult to assume that there was a plan to move the capital to Sabi during the reign of King Dongseon even though there are some people arguing for it. Instead, it is possible to think that the Buyeo area was included as part of the royal capital with the king's reinforced power during the period of King Muryeong. After that, the Buyeo area was developed into the location of a new capital during the period of King Seong. The Sah family's growth influenced the idea to a great degree. The Sah family replaced the position of the Mok family who held the strongest power.
Last, this paper examines whether the plan to move the capital to Iksan was carried out or not. Some say that the capital was moved to Iksan again, but this theory needs to be considered more carefully. After moving the capital to Sabi, it is true that the Iksan area was regarded as important by the royal family of Baekje. After that King Mu tried to make the Iksan area, his mother's base for power, a new religious center. Political Buddhist powers of the Iksan area tried to influence the king and strived actively to move the capital to Iksan. However, King Mu could not institute the plan because he had other supporting groups to establish the absolute monarchy.
