This paper lists and reviews Korea’s major industries with the greatest potential to the domestic economy and, the products/services that have proven to be the most successful in the current global market. It describes the status and characteristics of the selected industries with the greatest potential, why that is so, and what their future perspective is. In addition, the most successful products/services of each category, if any, will be discussed.
The current selected industries with the greatest potential are: telecommunication, semiconductor, digital home appliances, e-commerce, digital contents, automobiles, shipbuilding, precision components, textiles, biotech and agriculture venture, and others. Accordingly, the domestic products that have been proven most successful are DRAM memory chips, TFT-LCD, CDMA-based mobile phones, set-top box, high-speed internet access service, LNG carriers, cold steel plates, polyester fiber, women’s golf, and Korean Ginseng.
