The purpose of this paper is to analyze the educational function of dialects on Korean modern poetry. The culture of daily lives are included in the living language and oral tradition. Regionalism is reflected in the oral literature and use of dialects in Korean modern poetry. It is impossible for the learner to get ready to receive all of the information and knowledge by standard language education. So in literature education, especially poetry education, teachers must get students to accept all contents and codes of poetry all over the language, and learners must expand cognition and construct a meta-text through literature dialect in living life. It is important that the dialect corresponds with the sense of return to the regional and the activation of the regional culture. Specially, dialect education is creative succession of tradition, and its recreations, the recovery of nature. It shows that poets set importance on the regional relationship rather than the urban relationship in emotion. Learners have many experiences throughout literature education and become bearers of the education in order to cope with reality actively and come into close relations with constituents of community. The point to the regional dialect offers the key that allow us to pursuit the true values in life and poetic individual characters in regional poetry. Dialect
education expands the area of Korean language education to a new study direction.
