I examined the characteristics of Kim, So-Wars poetics through the theories of Cheonki(天機, i. e the profound nature of Nature and its action, It is a key word to understand the view of poetry m the late Chosun Dynasty). According to the results so far examined, I can emphasize facts from three aspects as follows
First, In the consciousness of Nature, Kim, So-Wol recognized that all the beings of Nature have one's own personality as an individual being, like theorists of Cheonki And he wanted to sympathize and communicate with Nature on the basis of the empirical cognition. In this point, things of Nature in his poems were figured as the symbol of ordinary value which has the quality of a formation and a change
Second, the theory of Cheonki could he called as the poetics of sincerity and spontaneousness Theorists of Cheonki affirmed the affection between man and woman, and often expressed it in their poems Kim, So- Wol was no exception. But his poems showed us a modern esthetics by using poetic skills like irony and paradox
Third, theorists of Cheonki thought folksongs is the hest poetic mode which expresses the truth and the spontaneousness of human nature on the basis of Cheonki of Nature As it were, the consciousness of folksongs could be founded on the subjective understanding of Korean national poetry As we know well, Kim, So-Wal wrote lots of poems based on folksongs (Busan University of Foreign Studies)
