This thesis begins with a question directed at existing studies in which regional distinction of rAn act of grandmother and grandfatherJ is ignored. That is to say, it is an objection towards two different arguments, in one which the play is regarded a:; a whole and the other in which difference of the play in each region is acknowledged. As the argument is focused on distinguishing the regional difference, subject of the study is examined in classification of Geyong-gi, Hae-seo and Young-nam province. First of all, regional difference could be found not only in geographical difference but also in phenomenal difference of the script. This includes mental conflict, structure of conclusion, aspect of death and the frequency of the lines for each character. According to the result of the study, distinguished aspects of this play are the character's attitude and the structural composition. In terms of the attitude, the old man (husband) is described to be crafty in the Hae-seo version, but rather simple-minded in the Young-nam and the Geyong-gi. The concubine, in Hae-seo, is described to be aggressive although in Young-nam she seemed to be a compromiser. The old woman(wife) has gone through remarkable transformation especially in her behavior. In Geyong-gi she was described in an image of a woman who sacrifices herself for the sake of her family, obedient and fragile in Hae-seo, active and strong in Young-nam. In terms of the structure, the Hae-seo version seems to have gone through several times of correction. This could be found in the charm of dramatic twist and in the emphasis of the old man's duplicity. The Young-nam version has a tendency to concentrate on the moment of the fight rather than gradually progressing the play. Compared to this, the Geyong-gi version contains comparatively less dramatic tension and twist. And it seems that play has been led rather passively. Also in terms of the play's composition, the Hae-seo version seems to be concentrated, the Y oung-nam sexual and the Geyong-gi singular. In addition, in Hae-seo, the court musician's role is significant and Choegualyi and Ma1ttugi, the central characters in other acts, make an appearance. In Young-nam, unlike in other regions, the doctorand the pallbearer appear and make up most of the last part of the play. Moreover, the number of dead children in Hae-seo is one or two, whereas in Young-nam it increases to three. According to what is mentioned, An act of grandmother and grandfather is diverse as much as the regions being widely distributed through out the country.
