This paper describes the generic controller named BenchPack which consists of ActualLookⓡ and ZeConⓡ for automatic transmissions. ActualLook is a dynamic power train simulation program to predict the effect of control logic and parameters and ZeCon is a control logic designer for simularion and experiment. Generally, control logic development needs the special equipment and a long period. However, using BenchPack, we can easily develop the new control logic in PC base without special tools. In order to control transmission in a BenchPack with the same period of TCU, CAN is used as a communication protocol between controller and C 167 microprocessor. As a result, it is possible to develop the new control logic using BenchPack, experimentally and analytically.
