With increasing public awareness of sustainability and advancements in industry and the economy, Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS) have gained attention as a sustainability model that integrates products and services to meet customer needs while addressing environmental, social, and economic impacts. This study examines the role of S.PSS in the custom-designed furniture sector, utilizing IKEA as a case study. Through a literature review, the study examines Arnold Tukker’s three PSS categories: Product- Oriented (PO), Use-Oriented (UO), and Result-Oriented (RO), and their eight elements, which strategies IKEA uses to attract customers. Data collection aims to identify correlations between S.PSS procedures and customer satisfaction with customized furniture. This study finds that IKEA’s implementation of PSS models contributes to customer attraction and satisfaction. The findings reveal the participants’ preferences that certain S.PSS categories are more effective in promoting sustainability and innovation within IKEA’s business model and which additional S.PSS categories customers seek from IKEA. The study suggests that S.PSS can be an essential factor for success in the custom-designed furniture industry, especially when its methods are closely connected with customer wants and sustainability objectives. This study fills a gap by exploring S.PSS methods that might assist companies like IKEA in growing their market share while promoting sustainability in product design and service integration for custom-designed furniture.
