The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of early childhood teachers about AI and AI education, and to provide basic data for the introduction of AI and AI education in early childhood education. To this end, a 9-question survey on the perception of AI and AI education and an association keyword survey were conducted on 116 early childhood teachers nationwide for about two months from November 30, 2023 to January 15, 2024. As a result of the survey analysis, early childhood teachers recognized AI as a technology that embodies human abilities, and recognized that AI can be used in various ways, not only for play support but also for administrative tasks. They also expressed many concerns about misuse and addiction to AI, and recognized the need for educational support such as AI ethics education as a way to solve this problem. Early childhood teachers’ perceptions of AI education were generally positive, and they perceived AI education as education about knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward AI. They also recognized that teachers need to have AI understanding and literacy as a competency, and that they need case training, philosophy and ethics training. In early childhood education institutions, they recognized that the age of AI education should be 4-5 years old and the areas should be integrated into five areas, and that AI education should be carried out through play-based operations and cooperation with families and institutions.
