This study is to examine the impact of the transactional leadership on exploitation activities and exploration activities of hotel employees and to test the moderating role of prevention focus between transactional leadership and exploitation activities. Literature study and empirical analysis using SPSS 27.0 was performed. Critical review of previous studies reveals that transactional leadership has positive impact on exploitation activities and negative impact on exploration activities and prevention focus may moderate the relationship of transactional leadership and exploitation activities. The results of empirical study using 300 samples of hotel employees are as follows. First, transactional leadership has positive impact on exploitation activities and negative impact on exploration activities. Secondly, prevention focus does not moderate the relationship of transactional leadership and exploitation activities. Additional study suggests that prevention focus mediates the relationship of transactional leadership and exploitation activities. This results of this study implies that tranactional leadership can increase independently exploitation activities of hotel employees. So, tranactional leadership should be implemented.
