The purpose of this study is to analyze the change in perception of wetlands through the urban national wetland ecological experience program. In this study, 106 fifth-grade elementary school students participated in the wetland experience program near the school, and the effect of the wetland ecological experience program was analyzed through pre- and post-questionnaire tests. As a result of the analysis, there was a significant increase in the perception of biological collection or observation, curiosity about animals and plants of wetlands, attitudes toward wetland experiences, and protection of wetland ecosystems. In the analysis of words associated with wetlands and words of animals and plants living in wetlands, it was shown that the animals and plants observed in the wetland experience program were remembered. Regarding the importance of wetlands, it was recognized that wetlands should be protected for the habitats and endangered species of various living things rather than carbon sinks and air and water purification capabilities. These findings suggest the necessity of an education program for wetland ecological experiences in inland and coastal wetlands for positive perception of wetlands and understanding various functions of wetland such as carbon sinks in the era of climate crisis.
