Sudden unintended acceleration incidents in modern vehicle systems pose a significant safety threat, directlyimpacting not only drivers but also secondary external victims. The causation of such accidents is often ambiguouslyattributed to either vehicle control system errors or driver misjudgments, complicating accurate accident analysis.Recent initiatives have involved installing black boxes on vehicle pedals to record real-time operational data in aneffort to determine accident causes. However, the absence of a real-time monitoring system capable of distinctlyseparating vehicle-induced sudden acceleration from driver errors has led to frequent disputes over accident causationand liability. To address these issues, this study proposes a system that collects data from the vehicle's electroniccontrol unit—specifically the On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD2) system—and monitors the driver's pedal inputs in realtime, presenting this information through an intuitive visual interface. The proposed system plays a crucial role inenabling drivers to clearly distinguish their own judgment errors during sudden acceleration events, providingimmediate feedback when the accelerator pedal is inadvertently engaged. This real-time interface offers a foundationfor definitively differentiating between driver cognitive errors and vehicle system malfunctions, thereby facilitatingaccurate accident causation analysis and clarifying legal responsibility.
