This study examines infiltration rates in 69 small-scale buildings in Gyeonggi-do, focusing on the effects of building characteristics and environmental factors under natural conditions. Infiltration rates were derived using indoor CO2 as a tracer gas and analyzed based on variables such as temperature difference, window-to-wall ratio, and frame type. Key findings indicate that PVC frames exhibit superior airtightness compared to aluminum frames, effectively reducing infiltration rates. Similarly, buildings with lower window-to-wall ratios showed better performance, while larger window areas were associated with higher infiltration rates, likely due to increased leakage areas. Statistical analyses, including t-tests, confirmed the significant influence of these variables on infiltration performance. The study emphasizes the importance of optimizing window frame types and window-to-wall ratios to improve energy efficiency and maintain indoor air quality. Additionally, representative combinations of variables were identified to serve as a basis for further analysis and practical application in building design. Future research will focus on collecting additional samples for underrepresented combinations to enhance data reliability and refine infiltration rate predictions. These findings provide valuable insights for understanding infiltration characteristics in small-scale buildings and offer guidance for designing energy-efficient and sustainable building envelopes.
