This study was conducted to evaluate the skin safety, texture improvement and whitening effect of the cosmetic cream containing hydrolyzed collagen and seabuckthorn seed oil. Collagen is present in the skin dermis layer and is a component very related in skin elasticity. Seabuckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides L.) tree which rich in vitamins that it is also called a vitamin tree, and it contained much amount of essential lipids. Therefore, by application of these agents in cosmetic formula, it is expected to enhancing skin elasticity and whitening effect. However, if the efficacy is given to cosmetics, there may be unexpected skin abnormal reactions, so we tried to confirm this. As a result of testing to the skin trouble after using the cream containing these active agents for 4 weeks with 20 subjects, it was evaluated that all subjects did not show any abnormal reaction to the skin, so it was confirmed that safe for the skin. Meanwhile, as a result of evaluating the effect of improving skin texture by an Antera 3D device for this cream, a statistically significant skin texture improvement effect was showed with 3.347% after 2 weeks and 5.812% after 4 weeks usage. In addition, the verification result of the whitening effect using by a skin colorimeter, a statistically significant skin brightening effect was confirmed after 4 weeks using the cream. The L-value, a skin brightness indicator, whereas showed a 0.74% change from 53.7 before the test to 54.1 for placebo, and 4.1% increased from 53.6 before the test to 55.8 for the seabuckthorn cream after 4 weeks. Therefore, with incorporating hydrolyzed collagen and seabuckthorn seed oil, cosmetics are expected to help improve skin texture and whitening efficacy without any adverse reactions to the skin.
