The oceans and fisheries sector represents a complex industry group where primary, secondary, and tertiary industries coexist within the maritime domain. The importance of an outlook model that reflects interactions between the oceans and fisheries sectors has been stressed out. However, the development of the model has been delayed due to a lack of available data and challenges in verifying intersectoral linkages. In order to overcome the difficulty of securing data, this study constructed provisional data on 2023 sales by the oceans and fisheries sector and developed a forecast model that considers the relationship between sectors by applying a system of equations model. The oceans and fisheries sales in 2024 are expected to improve slightly compared to 2023, with growth primarily driven by the shipbuilding and marine leisure tourism sectors.
