The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing sports safety consciousness of physical education related major colleage students. A survey was conducted with 202 students from three universities located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 for Windows. The analyses included frequency analysis, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach’s α, one-way ANOVA, t-test, and multiple regression analysis.
The results indicated that there were no significant differences in the social and personal dimensions based on gender. However, there were significant differences based on grade. Furthermore, the sports safety atmosphere of social dimension and sports safety education experience of the personal dimension were found to have a positive impact on sports safety consciousness.
This study concludes that it is necessary to develop tailored sports safety education programs according to grade to enhance sports safety consciousness among physical education majors, while also emphasizing the importance of establishing and maintaining a culture of safety within sports facilities and organizations. Based on these findings, further research is needed to provide concrete directions for raising consciousness of sports safety.
