This study aims to understand the role of social workers responsible for sports programs. Specifically, the study examines their roles and limitations from the perspective of social workers in charge of sports programs. To achieve this research objective, in-depth interviews were conducted, and the findings are as follows: Firstly, In response to rapid changes in the social environment, the roles of social workers responsible for sports programs have expanded, encompassing three major functions: "Social Bridge," "Specialist," and "Partner." Alongside traditional roles, new responsibilities have emerged for social workers. Secondly, Social workers experienced identity confusion due to their involvement in diverse roles such as administrative tasks, social welfare duties, and sports-related responsibilities. This is associated with the diversification of the social welfare field. Particularly, despite being in charge of overseeing sports programs, social workers perceive a lack of expertise in sports, leading to identity confusion. Finally, social workers highlighted the gap between the process of obtaining qualifications (social worker/sports coach) and the realities of the field. This was attributed to the inadequate education regarding sports program management in the process of obtaining social worker and sports coach qualifications.
