This study aims to establish that David Fincher"s film <The Social Network> was born under the influence of Orson Welles" <Citizen Kane>. It acknowledges that evaluations of works can vary significantly depending on shifts in era and context, and there exists potential for reinterpretation through new critical perspectives. In the history of cinema, <Citizen Kane> holds significance beyond being a singular work. From this perspective, this film embodies rich implications that are difficult to interpret through any single critical approach. Numerous film scholars and researchers have attempted practical criticism based on various methodologies. As a result, attention has been paid to the dual nature of wealth or the depiction of a power figure descending into corruption, which continues to be addressed in connection with Welles" subsequent works. And half a century later, Fincher"s <The Social Network> emerges. This work may seem to lack any apparent resemblance to <Citizen Kane>. However, stylistic traits emerge at multiple points. It was observed that the diverges from conventional linear narrative films by utilizing non-linear narratives to follow a chronological structure. Additionally, it distinguishes itself by deviating from genre conventions and composing its narrative through variations and overlapping of various genre elements. Next, common ground was identified in the aesthetic world view of producing films as perfectionists and introducing technological innovations. Through this, the research aims to argue for Fincher"s attempt to present a new rendition of <Citizen Kane> for the 21st century, engraving his ambitious endeavor as a writer. The archetype of the story reincarnates into numerous renditions, which can be deemed as the destiny of cinema. While an inseparable relationship exists between the narrative of a film and the director"s stylistic choices, it is hoped that such scholarly approaches will serve as a catalyst for more attempts to explore the worlds of yet unexplored works by authors.
