This study aimed to discuss the recent appearance of expandability as a tool in creative works using VR devices in terms of interactivity. To this end, we considered concepts of psychological interaction, beginning with cave paintings and physical interactions expressed in media art. Subsequently, we analyzed the interactivity of performances using VR devices such as tilt brushes, VR works in the visual arts, and VR broadcast contents. The results showed that creations made with VR media or tools are pioneering new areas of creation that reach beyond the boundaries of interaction provided by existing visual expressions by expanding spatial and creative aspects of creation and creators’ forms of expression. Creations made with VR devices, in particular, have the potential and expandability to overcome the limitations of interactivity that currently exist in visual art and media content genres and open up new areas of interactive creation. We believe that that this study will provide basic information for understanding VR creative content, which is still in its infancy, and propose interactive implications for creators and viewers.
