Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship among viewers’ motivation to watch, satisfaction with the viewing experience, and recommendation to others for sports-related retro video content.
Method: To achieve the purpose of the study, a total of 250 samples were distributed to students enrolled in sports-related classes at universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi. Out of these, 223 copies were used as the final effective sample. In this study, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis were conducted using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 22.0 to verify the hypothesis, and the following results were obtained.
Results: Firstly, entertainment-seeking, time consumption, and vicarious satisfaction, which belong to viewing motivation, had a significant impact on viewing satisfaction. In contrast, other factors of viewing motivation, such as information seeking and social exchange, had no significant effect on viewing satisfaction. Secondly, most viewing motivation factors, except information seeking, had no significant effect on viewing satisfaction. Thirdly, viewing satisfaction had a significant effect on recommendations to others.
Conclusion: In summary, a partially significant relationship is observed between viewing satisfaction and recommendation to others in the motivation to watch sports retro videos. Additionally, a high level of significant relationship is found between viewing satisfaction and recommendation of others.
