The purpose of this study is to examine relationships between social support, school engagement, and after-school sport participation among elementary school students from multicultural families. A questionnaire survey was conducted with a sample of elementary school students from multicultural family background – 3th ­6th grade students selected from schools located in Gyeonggi Province (Ansan-si, Icheon-si, Siheung-si, Suwon-si), Korea in 2013. A total of 225 questionnaires were collected. Statistical analyses were used to analyze the data, including confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, frequency, MANOVA, multiple regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, as to the types of after-school programs, participants in sport programs showed statistically higher scores in both social support and school engagement than participants in other programs including academics, arts, and non-participation. Second, statistically significant correlational relationships were found between variables of social support and school engagement among participants in after-school sport programs. As to social support, the period of after-school sport program participation was found to have an significant influence on both parent support and peer support. As to school engagement, the frequency of after-school sport program participation was found to have an significant influence on cognitive engagement.
