In analyzing the working environment and conditions for improvement of the physical directors, this study aims on improving the treatment environment of the physical directors. Data was collected from 590 physical directors using a simple random sampling method. Both frequency analysis and cross analysis were performed on the collected data using the SPSS ver 21.0 program. The results of the analysis were summarized as follows. First, our study showed that about 56.3% of physical directors renewed their contract 1 to 5 times, and 6.8% were determined to be long-term contractors, renewing their contract over 11times. Second, 63.2% of sports instructors in leisure sports, 82.6% of sports instructors in professional sports, and 69% of school sports instructors wanted to change to unlimited contracts. Third, it was showed that 398 (67.5%) physical directors did not receive overtime payments for working evenings or holidays. In particular, about 72% of sports instructors in professional sports did not receive overtime payments. Fourth, a survey of physical directors, on the working condition in need of the most immediate change, showed that 53.6% selected “salary” and 28% selected “contract length.” By catgegory, 66.8% of sports instructors in leisure sports and 52.2% of sports instructors in professional sports selected “salary” and 64.1% of school sports instructors chose ”contract length.” In conclusion, an allowance for long service should be written into the standard employment contract, changing the unlimited contract based on the renewal of the expected rights for a recharter in order to improve the labor conditions of the physical directors.
