Regarding the expanding influence in contemporary society, public art is used to convey artistic information, inherit cultural connotation and convey social values important form of artistic expression. Therefore, this paper explores the theme of social expansion of public art through literature research, and provides inspiration and direction for the future development. It uses CiteSpace to conduct literature analysis and explore the theme of the expansion of public art society. According to the results of literature research, first of all, hot topics residents, community engagement and interaction, cultural transmission and exchange, environmental sustainability, opportunities for informal education, emotional and psychological impact, social change and vitality, thus shaping and adding value to public spaces. Secondly, the theme of public art has gone through stages of development and deepening, whose trend is manifested from the intervention of art in space to the intervention of art in social issues and human life, thus paying attention to the impact in this process on economic development and other aspects. Therefore, it’s vital to explore the correlation between public art and social, cultural and environmental issues in the future development, enhance the application and influence of public art in a wider range of fields. Meanwhile, it should pursue balance in the implementation process of public art, and pay attention to solving community conflicts in the practice, so as to conform to the overall social interests and values, expand the social influence of public art, further explore the methods and themes of intervention in social issues and people"s lives.
