The process of Ming loyalist(明遺民) migrating to Korea mainly focused on the two periods of the the Imjin war(壬辰戰爭) and the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. After arriving in Korea, they mainly lived in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, with Gyeongsang(慶尚), cholla(全羅), and Gyeonggi-do(京畿道) being the majority The reason for this is closely related to the fact that the Ming Dynasty’s descendants were more familiar with the local customs and traditions of the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, adapted to the natural environment of the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, developed ideological and cultural values in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, and the Qing government’s policy of Shuahuan(刷還). The arrival of Ming loyalist had a significant impact on the political and cultural development of the Joseon Dynasty, as well as the ideology of respecting and demoting the Ming Dynasty.
