The purpose of this study is to understand the invisible wall that arises from the swimming instructor"s background, such as his or her athletic experience, in light of Pierre Bourdieu"s theoretical perspective, and to determine how former athlete swimming instructors can differentiate themselves from non-athlete swimming instructors. This is to determine whether the phenomenon is being built. To achieve the research purpose, a case study, a qualitative research method, was conducted, non-participant observation and in-depth interviews were conducted, and related literature data was collected in parallel. A total of 8 research participants were selected based on background variables such as former athletes or non-athletes using a purposive sampling method. Thematic analysis was performed on the collected data, and the conclusions drawn are as follows. First, it was found that the cause of the contact and boundary between athletes and non-athlete coaches in the swimming education field was the acquisition, accumulation and reproduction of economic capital through the promotion of survival swimming education and participation in competitions. Second, the differentiation method of former athlete leaders emerged through differentiation of teaching methods based on experience and the process of sharing social capital between athlete-turned-leaders. Based on the results, it was found that swimming instructors differentiated between athlete and non-athlete backgrounds by giving them symbolic meaning as a type of capital and deriving power to form boundaries.
