This study aims to analyze how ‘creative thinking styles’ are classified and to systematize their semantic categories. Creativity, which is presented as one of the core competencies in design education, has been measured by various assessment methods. However, most of the studies related to creativity have focused on assessing individual competencies, which has limitations, and it is necessary to categorize creative thinking styles instead of assessing individual creative competencies as a way to help foster efficient creative competencies. The research method used a sequential literature analysis method that analyzes major prior research data and synthesizes commonalities, and the types of creative mindset derived from the research were divided into cognitive and non-cognitive factors, and subcategories were derived. Through these findings, it was possible to categorize creative personalities into a consciousness structure, which represents an individual''s ideas, and mindset, which represents an individual''s attitude, and derive corresponding conceptual categories of dependence and independence, growth mindset and fixed mindset. On the other hand, from the type of cognitive factors, creative thinking derived diffuse thinking and convergent thinking from the form of thinking category, and descriptive thinking and paradigmatic thinking from the direction of thinking category. These categories were compared with the sub-keywords and keywords of the creativity assessment scale to propose a total of 16 types in 8 ranges through the combination of indicative categories. The reason for categorizing the types of creative thinking style is to understand the nature of creative thinking and use it to foster and induce creative thinking based on individual socio-cultural characteristics and attitudes. The results of the study suggest that the indexed criteria can diagnose what attitudes and approaches individuals have when striving to express creativity, and that it can be an alternative to the existing diverse methods of evaluating the degree of creativity of individuals, providing a more proactive understanding of creativity than before.
