Since the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the rapid advancement of AI technology has led to its swift integration across various fields. In response, the Ministry of Education announced plans to introduce AI education from 2025, presenting a significant challenge for future educators in terms of incorporating AI into education. Amidst concerns about AI implementation, this study aims to investigate whether introducing the unfamiliar AI program into the art education curriculum effectively enhances students’ learning outcomes. The study also seeks to understand the practical impact of AI integration on the teaching process and to develop a viable AI utilization guide aimed at strengthening students’ learning abilities. To achieve this, a precedent study was conducted, using a quasi-participatory observation approach. The study involved implementing an AI-assisted art instruction guide with first-grade students in art classes at general high schools in the Gyeongnam region. The study applied David A. Kolb’s experiential learning model, maintaining consistent learning models and content across AI-assisted and non-assisted classes. The study assessed the efficiency of AI-integrated classes based on factors such as students’ learning attitudes, artwork completion, and the learning process, which includes elements influencing learning efficiency, such as time spent on artistic activities. The research results indicated higher efficiency in AI-integrated classes, observed through a comparison of the two classes. Moreover, the study identified factors hindering students'' learning in each class, distinguishing between those related to AI utilization and those unrelated. This highlights the importance of controlling variables to enhance the reliability of evaluating AI utilization efficiency. Overall, this research contributes to the foundational exploration of teaching and learning strategies for effectively integrating AI in art education, aiming to increase the value of AI utilization assessments. aiming to increase the value of AI utilization assessments.
