The utilization of waste is a common concern in the industrial design field and has great significance for economic development. China announced ‘Circular Economy Development Strategy and Immediate Action Plan’ in 2013, and since then, interest in the sustainable development of the ceramic industry from all walks of life has increased. In recent years, the utilization of ceramic waste in the landscape design field has become increasingly widespread, and related policies regarding the recycling and utilization of ceramic waste is being introduced one after another in various places. Jiangxi Province is one of the largest industrial porcelain producers in China, and the production of landscape art porcelain is also moving to Jiangxi Province year by year. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to select 4 landscape design cases in Jiangxi Province, one of the key ceramic production areas in China, to investigate the preferences of users in Jiangxi Province on the utilization of ceramic waste in the landscape design field, so as to analyze the weight of each factor and form a useful basic data. This research uses the Q methodology proposed by W. Stephenson in 1935 to conduct a survey of users’ consciousness. The results show that, user consciousness was divided into ‘pursuit of decorative design’, ‘pursuit of cultural characteristics’, ‘pursuit of environmental protection’, and ‘pursuit of economic attributes’. The first type had the highest UNK value, and the correlation between type 3 and type 4 was strongly derived as 0.343. Type 1 and Type 2 were derived relatively independently as –0.006, and the distribution and weight of each type and factor were also derived through this study. This research can be used as a basis for local governments to formulate relevant policies, and guide practitioners in industrial design to focus on decorative design for the utilization of ceramic waste in the landscaping design field.
