Analysis of Elementary School Students’ Immersive Behavioron Augmented Reality-based Picture BooksTecnam Yoon Abstract: The purpose of the study aims to explore how reading activities with AR-picture books affect the immersion patterns of low elementary school students. To answer this question, 12 elementary school students participated in after-school class over 11 weeks. As a major activity, reading with AR picture books was conducted and activities were filmed five times. The recorded videos were statistically analyzed by observing the elements of immersive behavior for each learner through a child activity analysis application. The results are summarized as follows. First, as the number of augmented reality picture books used increased, learners’ attention and interaction immersion escalated together. However, in the case of emotion immersion such as interest, expectation, and satisfaction, the degree of immersion decreased over time. Second, a one-way RM ANOVA was conducted to find out the difference in immersion and the results showed that all variables had statistically significant differences depending on the frequency and time of use of AR picture books.
