The Effect of Multicultural Acceptance on Depressionin Multicultural Adolescents: Focusing on the Moderating Effectof Family Support and Social WithdrawalJiwoo Lee & Gilhee Noh Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing multicultural acceptance of multicultural youth on depression, and the moderating effects of family support and social withdrawal, and to provide basic data for welfare policies for multicultural youth. For analysis data, hierarchical regression analysis was used for 1,146 people in the 9th year of the 1st panel of the ‘Multicultural Youth Panel Survey’ of the Korea Youth Policy Research Institute. The research content of this thesis is that the effect of multicultural acceptance of multicultural youth on depression is that multicultural acceptance and depression increase in regions other than Seoul, and the moderating effect is that the more family support, the lower the depression, and the social withdrawal also lowers depression. This suggests that multicultural youth need individual support for family support and depression relief through activation of cultural acceptance education for their parent country and Korea and individual approach according to cultural acceptance.
