This study utilizes the Metaverse platform Gathertown in Japanese language classes and reports some of its contents. This report was written with a focus on ease of use from the standpoint of instructors and learners. First of all, from the instructor’s point of view, the operation for class preparation was explained in detail. In Gathertown, classrooms were easily created using the provided templates. The class was prepared by adding an object there. Objects were used in class by linking YouTube videos, Google surveys, and Google slides. As a teacher, I felt that the operation was more complicated than Zoom or Google Meet, which are real-time video platforms. I needed more time than Zoom to prepare for my first class. For the second lesson it was enough to change the object links. In addition, some items from the survey were analyzed and reported on the learner’s position. It was an item that showed the position of Gathertown, ease of operation, and familiarity with the metaverse platform. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the current college student learners did not have much experience visiting metaverse platforms such as Gettertown. Nevertheless, it was found that they did not feel any difficulty in manipulation during the class participation process.
