Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among physical self-concept, cognitive flexibility, and wellness in elderly individuals who participate in physical activity.
Method: To achieve this goal, a total of 220 questionnaires were distributed, and 220 completed questionnaires were analyzed for this study. The data were analyzed using various statistical methods, including frequency analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. SPSS Version 21.0 nad Amos 21.0 software were used for dat a analysis.
Results: The main findings of this study are as follows: First, physaicl self-concept was found to have a positive effect on cognitive flexibility. Second, cognitive flxeibility had a positive effect on wellness. Third, physical self-concept had a positive effect on wellness. Fourth, cognitive flexibility mediated the relationship between physical self-concept and wellness.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, it is recommended to develop and impmleent physical activity programs that target improving physical self-concept. Additionally, an integrated system that monitors and supports physical activities in the elderly should be established. Furthermore, it is important to develop diverse counseling programs aimed at enhancing cognitive flexibility to promote overall wellness in the elderly population.
