The study of academic research on ecumenism in the Korean church has been approached in a diachronic and public manner by categorizing the keywords used in each article. These keywords reveal a strong polarization between ecumenical and evangelical perspectives, which are influenced by the orientations of seminaries and denominations. The ecumenical movement is predominantly centered around the World Council of Churches (WCC), while the evangelical movement is represented by the Lausanne movement. The primary point of contention lies in the debate between soul salvation and social engagement. This fundamental difference in perspective leads to varying priorities and topics related to evangelism for different denominations and churches. As a result, there are differences in opinions, interests, practices, and theology within the Korean church. To address this, it is suggested that the Korean church should approach ecumenical missions from the perspective of basing its identity on an evangelical mission. By doing so, the church can expand its mission field further while maintaining its core evangelical principles. This approach encourages the church to embrace unity and collaboration while staying true to its evangelistic mission.
