Interest in children’s play is growing. In school education, learning through play is emphasized. However, the play method is gradually raising problems. The claim to restore the essence of play is also raised. Some argue that children’s true play should be restored. The movement to restore play begins with the problem of excessively treating play as a means of learning. Children in modern society do not play themselves by finding tools and places to play. Enjoys planned play in an environment provided by adults. True play is the play the child chooses to play. It should be a play in which children participate voluntarily according to their interests and needs.
In this article, ‘traditional play songs’ that show the characteristics of play were reviewed. The essence of play can be found in a form of play that has been made and handed down by someone through a long history, and that modern children can follow and recreate in an interesting way. Children should enjoy play properly without any restrictions or hindrances. Children do not acquire intended knowledge through play. Children learn about the world while gaining wisdom on their own through play.
