This study is to find out how body-expressing activity using picture books influences children’s creativity, physical self-concept, and self-control. The subject of this study was 40 5-year-old children, composed of experimental group of 20 children and comparative group of 20 children. Children in experimental group involved in body-expressing activity using picture books and those in comparative group involved in general body-expressing activity, both for 16 times during 8 weeks, The result of this study is as follows. First, children of experimental group who involved in body-expressing activity using picture books scored high in motion competence and fitness of physical self-concept area than those of the comparative group. Second, children of experimental group who involved in body-expressing activity using picture books scored high on every part of self-control area than those of the comparative group. Third, children of experimental group who involved in body-expressing activity using picture books scored high in fluency, originality and sensitivity of creativity area than those of the comparative group. The result suggests that body-expressing activity using picture books have a positive influence on improving children’s physical self-concept, self-control and creativity, and that using picture books can be a meaningful alternative as a teaching and learning method to improve children’s physical expressive power.
