This study examined the conceptual definition of museum and experience program along with the latest cases of digital utilization that can be reference at similar domestic museums in order to develop museum experience program with the theme of local folk songs. The goal is to utilize it for experience program applicable at Donhwamun Folk Song Museum currently in construction. Folk songs begin from relationships between people, and cannot exist without company, and it is a culture subject to change or discontinuation according to the flow of time. It is a precious cultural source that shows a cross section of the people’s lives from the actual forms and sounds of life to even the forms of color. The museums today demand a new paradigm due to the changes in the common lifestyle along with economic growth, and have changed from a reason-oriented space to a space of harmony between sensibility and reason, and from an exhibition-oriented space to a complex cultural space. Such 21st century folk song museum should reflect the three elements of reinforcing the on-th-spot characteristics through development of an experience program compatible with knowledge-based society as a space compatible with the latest trends. The experience at folk song museum should have the basic premise of the tourists singing the folk songs themselves, and the education on the essence and importance of folk songs should be conducted together. Next, through development of contents experience program kindling the five sense utilizing the latest technologies, the sensibility the folk song museum intends to deliver should kindle the intellectual/aesthetic curiosity of the recipient, which can be said to be today’s mission for the folk song museum.
