Du Guang Ting (杜光庭) is a great taoist who had arranged and systematized religious taoism’s theory of Tang dynasty. He had systematized religious taoism’s theory by writing notes on Laozu and had inherited and developed a theory that “practicing dao is practicing mind, practicing mind is practicing dao.” In other words, he had developed a matter of practicing dao as a matter of practicing mind by dragging down the absolute dao into our mind. He argued that every man cherished the nature of dao in one’s mind. So he asserted that the matter of practicing mind was a matter of finding the dao in one’s mind and recovering it’s orignal purity. Now, how we can find the dao in our’s mind and recover it’s orignal purity? On this matter, he presented a new method of practicing mind. He urged us that we had to calm our mind and forget outside things. In this theory, the very core of it is calming mind. Because calming mind displays various effects. He argued that: If we only calm our mind outside things would disappear wholly, If we only calm our mind we would be no more attached to things, If we only calm our mind we could keep absolute silence, and so on.
