Purpose: This paper assessed the perception of women microfinance clients on microfinance services regarding their influences on women’s economic and social empowerment in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. Originality: We can determine whether microfinance really helps women to empower them and improve their social status only through an empirical investigation. In addition, this study can uncover important determinants that are essential to microfinance services in order to enhance the impact of them. Methodology: The reliability test and regression analysis are performed using data collected by the survey questionnaire. Result: The results of the study revealed that credit amount, insurance coverage, and training have a significant positive influence on women economic empowerment and social empowerment at both household and community levels. It is noteworthy that the impact of credit amount on women empowerment is lower for farmers than other professions, suggesting that the level of empowerment is different depending on social and cultural environment. Conclusions and Implication: This study suggests that microcredit providers should be encouraged to review their program and redesign credit products by putting more emphasis on different training programs and insurance services in credit delivery system.
