Dharmakīrti tried to present an answer to the need for language by emphasizing the causal relationship between individual objects and conceptual cognition through language recognition while inheriting Dignāga's view that language recognition was a world based on language conventions. In conclusion, it can be said that Dharmakīrti emphasizes the utility of language recognition in two major ways. First, in the method of 'exclusion of things that do not have the same result' it is connected in a causal relationship from individual objects to perception and linguistic knowledge. Language recognition achieves its purpose through an indirect causal relationship with an individual image with a causal effect. Second, the primary cause of activating latent impressions and combining verbal expressions with objects in the way of ‘exclusion of others’ is human ‘intention’. The choice of linguistic customs is made by intention, and action is initiated to achieve the purpose. Dharmakīrti actively utilizes the aspect of object recognition and at the same time emphasizes the human intention to activate the latent impression. This is because the utility of language recognition to achieve the purpose is revealed.
