The lobby space of the modern hotel has been reborn as a public cultural space with various experiences beyond the space of waiting and transition. Since it is a space that reveals psychological exposure as well as the overall character of the hotel, it is important to plan an emotional design that reflects various requirements of consumers. The scope of this study focuses on five-star hotels in Jung-gu, Seoul, an area where accommodation facilities are concentrated. This study extracts the expressive characteristics of emotional design through literature review and case studies. After that, the basis of the persona scenario is derived through a user behavior survey so that the hotel lobby can be evaluated in terms of emotional design. The case analysis results are as follows. First, nature-friendly elements in the lobby space enhance psychological stability and space comfort, and increase the user"s stay time. In other words, the hotel lobby space has a more positive effect in terms of user sensibility through direct and indirect experience elements of nature. Second, the symbolism of the space can be increased according to the contrast of the ratio of the lobby space and the scale. Through this, as a central role, it shows the characteristics in connection with neighboring facilities. Third, in the case of cognitive facilities with relatively low awareness, it is necessary to apply the elements of wayfinding. For example, for users who aim to wait and relax, natural movement guidance or information signs that directly provide spatial information are placed in a noticeable place. As such, the analysis of the emotional design of the hotel lobby space can improve the pleasant environment of the lobby space and the emotion felt by the users by understanding the needs of the user.
