This study aims to develop a VR-based creative convergence program and find out the effect of the program on the students’ computing utilization capabilities and attitudes.
The goals of the creative convergence program are to cultivate creative thinking, convergent thinking, and computing thinking skills. For the study, a 13-week creative convergence program was devised, including knowledge and skills about creativity, and the attitudes toward it, as well as VR-based program practice time. The program was conducted for 150 college students at C University during the first semester of the year 2022. Before and after the program was implemented, the computer utilization capability and attitude test of college students were conducted. As a result of the study, both capabilities for and attitudes toward computing utilization were significantly improved, proving the effectiveness of the creative convergence program (p<.01). As the interest in developing computing thinking skills is increasing, various efforts to improve computing thinking skills in college liberal arts education should be continued.
