The purpose of this study was to investigate educational objectives in immigrant youth from multi-cultural families through taekwondo based on theoretical grounds on ‘the educational goal’ by Bloom. For the purpose of this study, the purposeful sampling and in-depth interviews were conducted. Specifically, a total of 5 taekwondo trainees who were immigrant youth understanding Korean in the alternative school in Seoul.
The findings are as follows.
First, the cognitive goal in immigrant youth from multi-cultural families through taekwondo refers to history and essentials of taekwondo, and when they’re asked ‘what does taekwondo mean to do?’, they answered that the behaviors should be changed to the right way to live in Korea where the cultures were different from their cultures.
Second, when it comes to ‘the affective goal’ for immigrant youth from multi-cultural families through taekwondo, ‘the language’ of leaders needs to be ‘standard language’ and ‘friendly language’ and it turned out to their leadership was emphasized to ‘communicate’ and ‘emphasize’ with trainees.
Third, as for ‘the psychomoto goal’, people in these days where pursue physical and mental wellbeing through taekwondo need various hobbies and goals. The trainees are looking for positive synergy to harmonize their physical health, taekwondo, goals while living their lives.
