There has been active research on a set of Daesam(大衫) for queens in Joseon with abundant research results accumulated. However, there has been insufficient work on the context of the early 17th century when they had to make the wedding costumes for queen with almost all of the materials including Uigwe(儀軌) destroyed during Imjinwaeran(壬辰倭亂). There remain questions about how patterns were expressed in a set of Daesam, what colors and shapes were used to make Daesam, when the decoration of Daesam with rank badges began, and what comprised a set of Daesam. This study set out to investigate the situation in the early 17th century when the wedding costumes for queen were made following Imjinwaeran based on the Seonjo Sillok(宣祖實錄), which includes records about the preparation of the wedding ceremony between King Seonjo and Queen Inmok in 1602, and Uiin Wanghu Inmok Wanghu Sang Jonho Junggungjeon Wangseja Chaekryedogam Uigwe(懿仁王后仁穆王后上尊號中宮殿王世子冊禮都監儀軌), which contains records about the investiture ceremony of Queen Yu(King Gwanghae"s wife) in 1610. According to the records in the Seonjo Sillok, the wedding costumes of Queen Inmok were made based on Garyesik(嘉禮式), records of regulations for the wedding costumes of a king and his queen before Imjinwaeran, the Gwanbok(冠服) received from the Ming(明) emperor and enshrined at Hyogyeongjeon(孝敬殿), and the Lifu(禮服) system for Qinwangfei(親王妃) and Gunwangfei(郡王妃) in Daminghuidian(大明會典). These three materials had impacts on a set of Daesam for Queen Inmok, which were verified by the costumes worn in the investiture ceremony of Queen Yu. Queen Inmok"s set of Daesam was the first Gwanbok for a queen made after Imjinwaeran, becoming the first such precedent in the Gwanbok system for queens during the latter part of the Joseon dynasty.
